Who loves coffee?

I was in need of some art therapy today and what better than coffee! To drink AND to paint with. The texture, the rich colours and, of course, the aroma is the best therapy ever! If you look at my website page ‘Coffee Painting’ you will see that I’ve used coffee as a medium on canvas, watercolour paper and ceramics. I love them all.

On Ceramics the coffee spreads easily. Sometimes too easily!

The technique is very different from when painting on paper or canvas. Coffee needs to be applied thickly then removed gently to reveal

Lighter tones.

On canvas the opposite applies. Lighter tones are applied first then the richer tones.
