As a Botanist I've always been interested in the symbiotic relationship between humans and plants.
As an artist I am fascinated by the, sometimes, uncanny resemblance certain trees have to the human form and, in reverse, the way the human form, especially the hair can be manipulated to resemble plant roots and stems.
This painting was done in coffee on canvas.
The sketch below, in coloured pencils, shows the close link between plant firms and hair styles.
The focus of this post, my 'Tree Creature' was formed from rolls of aluminium foil, wrapped with masking tape and finished with tissue papier-mâché. Once dry I pa8nted first with Gesso and the acrylics and hessian string.
