I’ve written and illustrated trwelve books over the past eight years using different styles of illustration. My last one, ‘Just Bear’ was illustrated using hot glue stencils and spray paint and it was SUCH fun to create!

I created a selection of hot glue stencils on baking paper then used aerosol paints to obtain the desired effect. Sometimes a drawn or painted object was required to position on top of the background before scanning.

The nice thing about these glue stencils is that they hardly ever wear out! They can be used time after time again. One can use many different stencils to overprint and it is possible to draw on top of a stencil once it is dry.

Although the book is fiction, the location and characters are real. Set in Castel Rigone, the story is about two very special houses which captured my heart and imagination and a teddy bear,
